Outer grilles for ventilation systems

For the 160 series in plastic and metal

Outer grilles are an essential component of decentralized and centralized room ventilation systems. They provide weather- and insect-resistant closure of the air duct to the outside and contribute significantly to the air quality, energy efficiency, and longevity of the ventilation system. LUNOS outer grilles are tailored to the specific requirements of the 160 series and other LUNOS systems. They meet the requirements of DIN EN 13141-2 for ventilation units and are corrosion-resistant in accordance with ISO 9227. We offer outer grilles made of plastic, which can be painted in RAL colors on request, as well as metal grilles.

Care & Maintenance

To ensure consistently high air quality, outer grilles should be cleaned at least once a year. If there is a high pollen count or large numbers of insects, it is advisable to check the insect screens every six months. Metal screens can be cleaned with mild detergents; aggressive acids or chlorine-based products should be avoided.

FAQ

What is the difference between an outer grille and an outer shutter?

An external grille is a fixed cover for the air outlet and primarily serves as protection against weather and insects. An external shutter, on the other hand, can additionally be opened or closed to regulate or completely block the airflow.

Does an outer grille affect the air volume flow of my ventilation system?

Yes, every external grille causes a slight pressure loss, depending on the shape of the slats and the mesh size of the insect screen. With LUNOS grilles, this loss is typically below 15 Pa at 30 m³/h and hardly affects efficiency.

What materials are LUNOS outer grilles made of?

We use stainless steel (V2A/V4A) or powder-coated aluminum for maximum corrosion resistance. Plastic variants are made of UV-stabilized ABS, which is particularly lightweight and impact-resistant.

Are outer grilles weatherproof and suitable for coastal regions?

Yes, all metal variants are corrosion-tested according to ISO 9227 and meet high protection classes (up to C5-M for V4A). For environments with high salt exposure, we recommend exclusively V4A stainless steel to prevent long-term damage.

How often should outer grilles be maintained?

An annual visual inspection and cleaning is sufficient in most residential environments. In areas with high levels of pollen, dust, or insects, a semi-annual cleaning of the grille and insect screen is recommended.
